Terms of Use

Last updated: September 5, 2025

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SourceVerify website, applications, and services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Who We Are

SourceVerify is the registered DBA (assumed name) of Jared Gallardo, a sole proprietorship in Utah. Payments for SourceVerify are processed by Paddle.com, which acts as the merchant of record; Paddle’s terms and privacy notices may also apply to your purchase.

1) Using the Service

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA/UK) to use the Service. If you access the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” refers to both you and that organization. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.

2) Description & Scope of the Service

The Service helps verify bibliographic references and may suggest corrections or formatting (e.g., APA/MLA/Chicago). We do not verify the substantive truth of research claims, provide plagiarism detection, legal review, medical advice, or any other professional advice. You are responsible for reviewing results before relying on them.

3) Document Processing & Data Storage

We process content you upload or paste to extract and verify references. We practice minimal retention:

  • Uploaded documents are processed temporarily for verification and are not retained beyond processing; we store verification results and minimal metadata (e.g., document names) necessary to provide the Service.
  • You warrant that you have the right to upload all content and that your uploads do not violate privacy, copyright, or other rights. Do not upload protected health information (PHI), government IDs, or other highly sensitive data.
  • We may use third-party AI providers to process content on your instruction; where available we configure providers to disable training/retention and contractually require use only to deliver the Service.

For details on our data practices, see our Privacy Policy .

4) Acceptable Use

  • Do not use the Service for unlawful purposes or to upload unlawful content.
  • Do not attempt to re-identify individuals from citation metadata or outputs.
  • Do not upload PHI or other highly sensitive personal data.
  • Do not scrape, bypass rate limits, or interfere with the Service’s operation.
  • Do not resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties without permission.
  • Do not use Service outputs to train models or systems without our prior written consent.

5) Plans, Tokens, Auto-Renewals & Cancellations

  • We may offer subscription plans and/or token packs. Tokens represent the right to run verification tasks, have no cash value, are non-transferable, and expire 12 months after purchase unless stated otherwise. Bonus/promotional tokens may have shorter expiry and are not refundable.
  • Subscriptions (if enabled) auto-renew at the end of each term unless you cancel before renewal. You may cancel anytime in-app; access continues through your paid period.
  • Usage limits and fair-use caps may apply to protect Service quality; we may suspend abusive or harmful use.
  • Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

6) Payments, Taxes & Paddle

  • Payments are processed by Paddle.com (merchant of record) and are subject to Paddle’s terms and policies. Paddle collects and remits applicable taxes where required.
  • You agree to provide accurate billing information and authorize Paddle to charge the payment method on file for recurring fees (if you subscribe).
  • For billing questions or receipt copies, contact us at your support email.

7) Beta & Early Access

From time to time we may offer beta or pre-release features. Beta is provided “as is,” may be changed or discontinued at any time, and is excluded from any uptime or support commitments.

8) Intellectual Property

The Service and its content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of SourceVerify and its licensors. You retain any rights you have in content you upload; by using the Service you grant us a limited license to process that content solely to operate and improve the Service.

9) No Warranties

The Service and any results are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. You are responsible for reviewing results before relying on them.

10) Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SourceVerify and its owners, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for all claims in the aggregate will not exceed the amounts you paid for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

11) Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold harmless SourceVerify and its affiliates from and against any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your unlawful content or your use of the Service in violation of these Terms.

12) Third-Party Services

The Service may depend on or link to third-party services (e.g., Paddle, AI providers). We are not responsible for third-party services and make no representations regarding them. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms and policies.
