# sourceverify.ai > SourceVerify verifies academic and professional references against real sources. It detects hallucinated citations, confirms DOIs, and returns an auditable verdict with the evidence behind it. SourceVerify extracts references from text or PDFs and verifies each one against scholarly databases and the open web — OpenAlex, Google Books, Google Search and Google Scholar — plus publisher pages, PubMed records, and any URL a reference points to. Every reference receives one of four verdicts (VERIFIED, VERIFIED WITH ERRORS, NEEDS HUMAN REVIEW, UNVERIFIED) under SVRIS, an open and deterministic standard, with the supporting evidence attached so the result can be audited rather than trusted on faith. Verification runs in the web app, through a REST API, or from AI assistants via an MCP server, a CLI, and a Claude Skill. New accounts receive 25 complimentary tokens with no card required. ## Product - [Home](https://sourceverify.ai/en) - [Pricing](https://sourceverify.ai/en/pricing) - [Integrations](https://sourceverify.ai/en/integrations) - [Reference volume calculator](https://sourceverify.ai/en/research-calculator) ## Answers - [All answers](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers) - [Can you trust ChatGPT citations?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/can-you-trust-chatgpt-citations) - [How accurate are AI-generated references?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/how-accurate-are-ai-references) - [How does SVRIS verification work?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/how-svris-verification-works) - [How do you check AI-generated citations?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/how-to-check-ai-generated-citations) - [How do you detect fake academic references?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/how-to-detect-fake-academic-references) - [How do you integrate citation verification into a writing workflow?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/how-to-integrate-citation-verification) - [What does the research say about academic reference hallucinations?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/latest-research-academic-reference-hallucinations) - [What is the most cost-effective way to verify citations?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/most-cost-effective-citation-verification) - [Which tools check academic references?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/tools-for-checking-academic-references) - [What is a citation hallucination?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/what-is-a-citation-hallucination) - [What is SVRIS?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/what-is-svris) - [Why does AI hallucinate citations?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/why-ai-hallucinates-citations) - [Why do you need a reference verification layer?](https://sourceverify.ai/en/answers/why-you-need-a-reference-verification-layer) ## The SVRIS standard - [SVRIS overview](https://sourceverify.ai/en/svris) - [SVRIS specification](https://sourceverify.ai/en/svris/spec) ## Developer and AI tools - [AI tools overview](https://sourceverify.ai/en/ai-tools) - [MCP server](https://sourceverify.ai/en/ai-tools/mcp) - [Command-line interface](https://sourceverify.ai/en/ai-tools/cli) - [Claude Skill](https://sourceverify.ai/en/ai-tools/claude-skill) - [Developer platform](https://sourceverify.ai/en/developers) - [REST API reference](https://sourceverify.ai/en/developers/docs/api) ## Policies - [Privacy policy](https://sourceverify.ai/en/privacy) - [Terms of service](https://sourceverify.ai/en/terms) - [Refund policy](https://sourceverify.ai/en/refund-policy)
